Indications of Waxsol 10 mlWaxsol Ear Drops 10ml Ear Drop Generics:Docusate Sodium 0.5% UniMed UniHealth Pharmaceuticals LtdWaxsol 10 ml Ear drops containing Docusate Sodium are used to help remove ear wax. PharmacologyEar wax, which frequently obstructs the external auditory meatus, comprises less than 50% fatty substance generated from sebaceous ceruminous gland secretions. Desquamated epithelium, foreign debris, and shed hairs make up the majority of the wax. This non-fatty substance acts as a matrix, keeping the fatty matter granules together to form the ceruminous mass. The use of oils or solvents helps to bind the mass together, but watery solutions, if they can permeate the matrix, cause the ceruminous material to disintegrate. Docusate Sodium ear drops penetrate the dry matrix of the ceruminous mass quickly due to their low surface tension and miscibility. DosageAdults (including the elderly): Apply Docusate Sodium ear drops sufficient to fill the affected ear on not more than two consecutive nights.Children (from 1 year): As for adult dose.If the Docusate Sodium is not ejected, ear-syringing might be required, patients should consult their doctor. AdministrationTo apply, tilt head to one side so that the ear is facing up. Then gently pull the ear lobe up & backward in case of adults and children older than 3 years. In case of pediatric patients gently pull the ear lobe down & backward. Gently drip the Docusate Sodium ear drops into blocked ear until it is full.
